  The new ‘Wolf Packs’ came in all shapes and sizes; the bigger and fiercer dogs began to lead the packs and had first choice on all breeding rights. Each successive litter became bigger, stronger and more aggressive. Their instincts however all corresponded; their search for food, in whatever shape or form, became their over-riding objective. Rats became their staple diet. Millions of rats roamed the streets and houses, freed from all forms of human controls.

  All creatures on earth expand relative to the food supply; the rats had a never ending food supply; millions of dead and rotting human corpses.

  Unarmed people venturing out onto the streets became targets of the ‘Wolf Packs’. Man’s best friend became his worst and most feared enemy. Millions of years of evolution now resurfaced and dominated the canine brain. People were meat, and dogs were carnivores that hunted meat in packs.

  ‘Wolf Pack’ fought ‘Wolf Pack’ over territory, where not too long before, gangs of young men had fought over the same territory. For a creature that had evolved to hunt and kill elk and buffalo, an unarmed human was an easy meal, and once again, the species multiplied and expanded in line with the never ending supply of food, both human and rat.

  All forms of electrical equipment were now redundant; there was no electricity or gas; no heating to alleviate the nuclear winter. All forms of combustible materials were burned, and groups of people stood around and fed the fires in order to keep warm and to protect themselves from the waiting predators; - not far away the canines lay in wait for their next meal; fresh meat always tasted sweeter than decaying flesh, and the thrill of the chase was exciting and built into their DNA.

  It was originally planned to supply people involved in essential services with the vaccine; the military; the men and women with the guns, had other ideas. Officer who thought that their rank was still of importance were shot. The rest of the officers discarded their uniforms and fled; total anarchy ruled. There was no longer any form of order or discipline; armed soldiers raided shops, supermarkets and any form of food store, commandeering and then selling the food to the highest bidders, little realizing that only food could sustain life, not money or gold. Money became a useless commodity, and huge stockpiles of ill gotten soldier’s money obtained either through bribes, at gun point, or stolen from empty banks, were burned on the street fires simply to stave off the cold and to keep the hungry and forever watchful canine predators at bay.

  Diseases started to work their way through the population; there were no longer any functioning hospitals; no doctors or nurses, and no life saving drugs. Diseases that had almost been wiped off the face of the earth resurfaced. The polluted and poisoned water supply reintroduced cholera and typhoid to the once civilized world; curable diseases now became fatal; medical knowledge and practice reverted back to the Middle Ages.

  The contaminated and poisoned water supplies had little effect on either the dogs or the rats; they in turn continued to multiply and to spread the diseases.

  For many, many years, the vaccine created by Mohamed Abu Raheem kept the virus at bay throughout the once civilized world. People no longer died in their sleep; many decided that life in the new world was no longer worth living, and whole family groups committed suicide to be eagerly consumed by both rats and dogs; those that fought to stay alive simply reverted back to dying in the normal and traditional ways; as they had done for 200,000 years.

  They did not however revert to their traditional ways of breeding.

  Mohamed Abu Raheem had altered the DNA of the vaccine.

  The JIHADA had told him how to in his dreams; that was allowed by the Gods; this time, the JIHADA had obeyed the Rules of the Universe.

  This was the secret that he had blocked from McNaught and Theodore before disappearing into no more than a thought.

  He had to disappear into a thought, - a banished thought, - before the full extent of his future accomplishment and his ultimate triumph was discovered.

  What was left of the entire Human race was now- sterile - the vaccine saved lives but no longer allowed replenishment, and soon, the cull of the Gods would be complete.

  In a remote Afghan village, a small group of Muslim people continued to have children. They lived high in the mountains, far away from the fetid, polluted waters that now flowed throughout the planet: high enough to escape the all encompassing poisoned nuclear dust cloud that swirled around the planet.

  They drank clean pure water from the mountain streams and ate well. Millions of goats now roamed the mountains and the high plains, free to breed, and freed from the human dinner table. The Nuclear Winter had little effect on them; in the village it was almost always winter due to the altitude; the grasses and plants had spent millions of years evolving to live in this climate.

  Life was good for Mohamed Abu Raheem, his wife, and his recently born sons; -

  Twin boys, each with dark and deep soulless eyes.

  Eyes that Mohamed had only ever seen in his dreams.

  Soon -There would only be Islam.

  The PROPHESY OF THE LOST SCRIPTURES would be

  fulfilled.
